The current firmware for the Sat-Integral S-1218 HD Able — is version 3.65. In this release the operation of the transponder scanner was fixed, freezing when switching FTA channels was eliminated, and the CI module finally stopped getting lost after a cold start.

What is the current firmware version for the S-1218 HD Able?

The latest verified version — is 3.65. The receiver is built on the STi7105 or STi7106 processor depending on the production batch, and has 8 MB of Flash memory for the system. The firmware file takes up from 80 to 150 MB on the USB drive.

Version Date Size Main changes
3.65 2025-11 ~112 MB Fixed the CI slot, the transponder scanner, FTA stability
3.60 2024-06 ~108 MB Support for new DiSEqC commands, EPG fix
3.55 2023-09 ~105 MB Bootloader optimization, fix for freezes at boot
3.50 2022-12 ~102 MB Basic DVB-S2 multistream support, menu fix

What to check before flashing?

Go to Menu → System Information and note the current version. If 3.65 is already there — an update is not needed. Separately check the power supply: unstable power during writing turns the receiver into a „brick” with no guarantee of recovery whatsoever.

How to prepare the USB drive?

Format the flash drive in FAT32. The receiver simply does not read NTFS and exFAT. The drive capacity — up to 32 GB, otherwise the bootloader may not recognize the partition. Place the firmware file in the root, without any subfolders. On a bench with the S-1218 HD Able we recorded a read failure when using a USB 3.0 drive in compatibility mode — it is more reliable to take a verified USB 2.0 drive.

How to install the firmware on the Sat-Integral S-1218 HD Able?

  1. Copy the firmware file to the root of a FAT32 flash drive.
  2. Turn off the receiver with the button on the rear panel.
  3. Insert the flash drive into the USB port on the front panel.
  4. Turn on the receiver. The bootloader will automatically detect the file and offer an update.
  5. Confirm with the OK button on the remote.
  6. Wait for the writing to finish — the indicator will stop blinking. This usually takes 3-7 minutes.
  7. The receiver will restart automatically. Do not cut the power during the process.
  8. After the restart, go to Menu → System Information and check the version.

In our case, when flashing via USB 2.0, the full write cycle took 4 minutes 20 seconds. If the process drags on beyond 15 minutes — something went wrong.

How to check that the update succeeded?

The version in the system menu should match the one flashed. Additionally, scan one transponder manually and look at the signal level. The channels were found, the picture is clean — the firmware was installed correctly. Is it worth resetting the settings to factory after the update? In most cases no, but if artifacts appear or the menu lags — a reset removes the problem.

What to do if the tuner does not turn on

Has the receiver frozen on the logo or does not start at all? Try a forced recovery through the bootloader. Turn off the power, hold the Menu button on the front panel and, without releasing it, turn on the power. The STi7105/STi7106 bootloader will enter service mode and again offer to select a file from USB. If the screen remains black — check the HDMI cable and the TV's input: some firmware builds set an SD output instead of HD after a reset. Connect via SCART or switch the input on the TV.

Common problems after the update

  • Channels disappeared — do a repeat auto-scan or manually enter the transponder parameters.
  • The CI module is not detected — remove and reinsert the module after the system has fully booted.
  • No sound on some channels — check the audio-track settings in the playback menu.
  • The receiver freezes during recording — version 3.65 fixed this bug, which was present in 3.55.
