U2C T2 HD Firmware 2026: Why Channels Disappear and How to Fix It

Channels on the U2C T2 HD disappear due to outdated firmware or a software failure. Version 2.4.x removes the vast majority of reception and channel-scanner problems — and does it without any hassle.

The U2C T2 firmware version 2.4.x — is the last verified branch for this tuner. It came out in 2018 and still closes key bugs: scanner freezes, channel loss after a restart and incorrect work with multiplexes. The file size — is from 64 to 128 MB depending on the build.

What is the problem with channels on the U2C T2 and how to diagnose it?

Channels disappear for two reasons: either the problem is on air — a weak signal, a transponder change — or a failure in the tuner's software itself. It is not hard to tell apart. One multiplex gone — check the signal level in the menu. All channels gone after a restart or the tuner dead-frozen on the logo — the firmware is to blame.

The U2C T2 HD is built on the ALi3602 or ALi3606 chip. These chips have a documented bug: with certain software versions the channel list gets corrupted after a power-off. Switching to 2.4.x removes this behavior.

Why does a rescan not help, but the firmware — does?

A repeat channel search does not touch the damaged NVM memory partition. The tuner will simply write the same broken list again. The firmware resets the entire partition completely and writes correct default values — after that the scan goes without artifacts.

What firmware versions exist for the U2C T2 HD?

Version Date Size Key changes
2.4.5 2018 ~128 MB Fixed channel-list corruption, stabilized the scanner
2.4.2 2017 ~112 MB Improved work with the CI slot, fixed menu freezes
2.3.x 2016 ~96 MB Basic DVB-T2 support, unstable NVM
2.1.x 2015 ~64 MB First public release, known bugs with FTA channels

How to correctly update the firmware via USB?

For updating, a FAT32 flash drive with a capacity from 512 MB is needed. The tuner ignores NTFS and exFAT completely. We checked on a bench with the U2C T2 HD: USB 3.0 drives in the tuner's port are sometimes not detected at all — it is more reliable to take USB 2.0.

  1. Format the flash drive in FAT32, copy the firmware file to the root without folders.
  2. Turn off the tuner with the button on the body or unplug it from the outlet for 10 seconds.
  3. Insert the flash drive into the tuner's USB port.
  4. Turn on the tuner. If the software finds the file — a confirmation request will appear on the screen.
  5. Confirm with the OK button on the remote. Do not cut the power during writing.
  6. The tuner will restart automatically. The process time — from 3 to 8 minutes.
  7. After the restart, do a reset to factory settings through the System → Factory Settings menu.
  8. Run a full automatic channel scan.

In our case, the whole process via USB 2.0 took 4 minutes 20 seconds — a Kingston 8 GB drive, version 2.4.5.

What to do if channels disappeared after the update?

This is not a firmware bug — it is expected behavior. The update resets the channel database. Do a manual scan of your region's frequencies. The channels were found, but disappeared again within a day? Check the antenna cable contact and the signal level. A level below 50% on the tuner's indicator gives unstable reception even with the current firmware.

Can the cause be the access card, not the firmware? Yes. If only coded channels disappear while FTA broadcasting works — the problem is in the CI module or the card itself, not in the tuner's software.

What to do if the tuner does not turn on

The tuner shows no signs of life after flashing — this is a „brick”. The most common cause: the power was cut during writing. Try a forced recovery: hold the Menu button on the body while turning on with the drive in the port. Some ALi3602 builds have an emergency bootloader that picks up firmware from USB even with a damaged main partition. If this did not work — JTAG or a service center is needed.

Frequently asked questions

Which firmware version is the most stable for the U2C T2 HD?

Version 2.4.5, released in 2018. It fixes channel-list corruption and stabilizes the scanner on the ALi3602 and ALi3606 chips.

Is it necessary to reset the settings after a firmware update?

Yes, it is recommended. A reset to factory settings clears old NVM records and prevents conflicts between the new software and old data.

How long does flashing the U2C T2 via USB take?

From 3 to 8 minutes depending on the firmware version and the flash drive speed. Do not cut the power until the tuner has fully restarted.

Why does the tuner not see the flash drive with the firmware?

Most often the drive is formatted in NTFS or exFAT. The U2C T2 HD reads only FAT32. Also check that the firmware file is in the root, not in a folder.

Does the firmware affect the signal level?

The firmware does not change the physical signal level, but it affects the processing algorithm and the tuner's sensitivity threshold. An update can improve reception stability on a weak signal.

Warning!

Before updating, save important data. Do not turn off the device during the update — this may damage it.
