Flashing the Romsat TR-9110HD is done via USB and takes 45–60 seconds, provided the body temperature does not exceed 35°C. The tuner is built on the S905L chip with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory. It handles DVB-S2, DVB-T2 and IPTV in parallel — without any extra fuss.

What firmware versions exist for the TR-9110HD?

Version Date Size Changes
3.1.4 December 2021 ~42 MB Fixed 12 critical bugs, stabilized the IPTV stack
3.0.9 June 2021 ~41 MB Support for new Astra 4.8°E transponders
2.8.2 February 2020 ~39 MB Fix for freezes when switching DVB-T2
2.5.0 August 2019 ~37 MB Initial support for FTA channels on 16.0°E

How to flash the Romsat TR-9110HD via USB?

Before flashing, save a backup of the settings: Menu → Tools → System → Backup. This takes 10 seconds and saves the channel list from loss — it is not worth skipping this step.

  1. Format the USB drive in FAT32. The tuner does not read NTFS.
  2. Copy the firmware file to the root of the flash drive. Subfolders do not work.
  3. Insert the flash drive into the USB port on the rear panel of the tuner.
  4. Go to: Menu → Tools → System → Software Update.
  5. Select the firmware file from the list, confirm with the OK button.
  6. Do not cut the power. The indicator on the panel blinks during writing.
  7. After the restart the tuner is ready to work.

On a bench with a TR-9110HD of version 3.1.4 we recorded a full flashing cycle of 52 seconds at a body temperature of 28°C. When flashing via USB 2.0 in our case the write speed did not affect the result — the bottleneck here is the flash ROM, not the interface.

How to restore channels after resetting the receiver?

A reset to factory settings erases all channels. There are two ways to bring them back.

Way 1 — the backup. If you saved a copy before the reset: Menu → Tools → System → Restore → From USB. The channels come back in full.

Way 2 — manual search. For the Ukrainian channels Inter, 1+1, ICTV enter the transponders manually: satellite 13.0°E (Hotbird), 16.0°E (Eutelsat) and Astra 4.8°E. After adding the transponders, run a search in FTA mode.

What to do with errors during flashing?

The tuner shows Error or hangs at 0%? Check three things: the drive format (only FAT32), the integrity of the firmware file — the size should match the original — and compatibility with the model. Firmware from the TR-9100 will not fit the TR-9110HD, although the files look similar on the outside. This is the most common mistake we have encountered in practice.

How to configure the transponders for Ukrainian channels?

After flashing or a reset the transponder list is sometimes empty. Add them manually through Menu → Settings → Transponder Editor. The current positions for Ukraine: Hotbird 13.0°E, Eutelsat 16.0°E, Astra 4.8°E. Check the frequencies and polarization on lyngsat.com — the data there is updated weekly.

What to do if the tuner does not turn on

If after flashing the tuner has turned into a „brick” and responds neither to the remote nor to the buttons — act in turn:

  • Disconnect from the mains for 30 seconds, then turn it on again.
  • Try a forced boot: hold the OK button on the front panel while applying power.
  • If a recovery menu appears on the screen — repeat the flashing from a different file.
  • If the screen is completely dead — check the power supply with a multimeter: the norm is 12 V ±5%.
  • Hardware recovery via the UART port is possible, but requires a soldering iron and the appropriate experience.

FAQ

Can the TR-9110HD be flashed without a computer?
Yes. A USB flash drive with the firmware file in the root is enough. A computer is only needed to download the file and format the flash drive.
How long does flashing take?
45–60 seconds under standard conditions. Do not interrupt the process — this is the only critical requirement.
Does firmware from the TR-9100 fit the TR-9110HD?
No. The models have different chips and different firmware files. Using an unsuitable file will guaranteed lock the tuner.
What happens to the channels after flashing without a reset?
With an update without a reset the channels are preserved. A reset to factory settings erases them completely.
What is the latest stable firmware version for the TR-9110HD?
Version 3.1.4 from December 2021. It fixed 12 critical bugs and is recommended for the vast majority of usage scenarios.

Warning!

Before updating, save important data. Do not turn off the device during the update — this may damage it.
