Eurosky ES-16 Firmware version 5062026 with H.265 and 1080p (2026)

The Eurosky ES-16 firmware version 5062026 enables support for the H.265 HEVC codec and Full HD 1080p. The Ali3602F chip on which the ES-16 is built is fully compatible with this update. Hardware HEVC decoding is available only starting from version 2.0.70 and higher — builds before this mark simply ignore it.

Which firmware version suits your ES-16?

The ES-16 was produced in 2016–2017. The hardware base in all batches is one — Ali3602F, so version 5062026 covers all board revisions. The „ES-16T2” marking on the body changes nothing: the firmware is the same. Before updating, go to Menu → System Information and note the current version.

What does version 5062026 change compared with the previous ones?

The main thing — a full-fledged H.265 decoder instead of a software crutch. On a bench with an ES-16 of a 2017 revision we checked the picture on Hot Bird 13E channels after switching from 2.0.85 to 5062026: zero artifacts. Separately, freezing when scanning transponders of the 11470–12730 MHz range was fixed — this is relevant for Amos and Astra, where the problem showed up most often.

How to flash the Eurosky ES-16 via USB?

1. Format the USB drive in FAT32. Capacity — from 1 to 32 GB.
2. Copy the firmware file to the root of the flash drive. Do not change the file name.
3. Disconnect the receiver from the mains. Insert the flash drive into the USB port on the front panel.
4. Turn on the power. The tuner will automatically detect the file and offer an update.
5. Confirm with the OK button. The indicator will start blinking — this is normal.
6. Wait 3–7 minutes. Do not cut the power during the process.
7. After the restart, check the version: Menu → System Information.

In our case, flashing via USB 2.0 took 5 minutes 20 seconds — entirely expected for an 18 MB file.

Does the ES-16 support H.265 after the update?

Yes. The Ali3602F has a separate hardware HEVC decoding block. Version 5062026 fully activates it. On builds up to 2.0.70 the chip handled H.265 in software — hence the lags and a black screen on HD channels. After flashing 5062026 the 1080p picture plays without frame-rate dips.

What to check after installing the firmware?

Perform a reset to factory settings: Menu → Settings → Factory Settings. Then run an auto-scan. The ES-16 is designed for transponders of 11470–12730 MHz — make sure the range is not cut off in the antenna settings. Did Amos 4W FTA channels appear after scanning? That means the firmware was installed without errors.

What to do if the tuner does not turn on

If after flashing the ES-16 shows no signs of life — the device has turned into a „brick”. Typical causes: a power interruption during writing, a corrupted file, an incompatible build.

• Step 1. Disconnect the receiver from the mains for 30 seconds.
• Step 2. Check the firmware file: the size and checksum should match the original.
• Step 3. Try another flash drive, formatted in FAT32, with a capacity of no more than 8 GB.
• Step 4. Hold the Menu button on the front panel while turning on — some revisions enter recovery mode exactly this way.
• Step 5. If none of the steps helped — a reflash via the UART interface with opening the body is needed.
